What Braeswood homes change about a La Cornue repair
Local housing, power events, water conditions, and installation styles all affect how we approach La Cornue diagnostics here.
Ranch houses from 1947 and rebuilds
Braes Heights, the biggest of the seven, went up from 1947 to 1952, and its homeowners association was chartered in 1951. About 2,200 single-family homes stand in the area, with apartment buildings adding more units across the super neighborhood.
A ranch kitchen from the 1950s was drawn for a smaller range, so the opening, the gas stub and the hood may all need a look when a larger one goes in. Tell us whether your house is original or rebuilt, and we plan our check of the connection and clearances around that.
Allison flooded one house in five
Allison's 2001 floodwater reached roughly 500 of the neighborhood's 2,200 houses. Many were demolished and replaced with Colonial, Tudor and stucco two-story homes, speeding up a change that had begun slowly beforehand.
In a rebuilt house the kitchen is newer than its neighbors, yet the range may have come from an older home. Tell us where the range came from and when it was last serviced, so we know which parts are original to it.
Braeswood Place centers on seven subdivisions beside Brays Bayou, inside Loop 610. Ranch houses stand beside two-story rebuilds. Parking and the person who will meet us are worth mentioning on the form, along with a rating plate photo.
A range moved from a flooded house or an older kitchen carries its history, so a burner that lights slowly or burns unevenly may relate to the move as much as to age. We watch the flame at each burner, compare the oven with its dial and test the thermostat, because most La Cornue ranges give no codes. A tripping breaker is an electrician’s job, and a gas odor means going outside and phoning the utility.

My range came with me from an older house. What do you look at?
The flame at each burner, the oven temperature against the dial and the thermostat.
