What Westbury homes change about a La Cornue repair
Local housing, power events, water conditions, and installation styles all affect how we approach La Cornue diagnostics here.
Ira Berne's 1950s and 1960s neighborhood
Ira Berne developed Westbury in the 1950s and 1960s, naming it for Westbury, New York, and Westbury Square shopping center opened in 1960. Census counts make the 1960s its peak building decade.
Original kitchens from that period were fitted for the appliances of the day, so a heavy range may fill an opening drawn for something smaller. Tell us how yours sits among the cabinets, and we check its clearances and gas connection.
Smaller openings in original ranch kitchens
Ranch kitchens in Westbury often have a refrigerator alcove built for smaller models. Laundry is frequently out in the garage or a utility room.
The alcove shows that the room was planned tightly, so a large range may have little space beside it. We note the gap to the sides and the hood height along with the burners.
Westbury lies between South Post Oak and Bob White Road, with the Willow Waterhole detention basins now serving as a park. The land once held Sam Houston Airport, which stopped flying around 1953. Mention parking and who meets us when you book.
A 1960s house may hold a range inside a cabinet space drawn for a smaller one, so an oven that overheats the cabinets or a flame that wavers can involve the fit as well as the range. We check the flames, the oven temperature against its dial and the thermostat, as most La Cornue ranges show no codes. If the breaker trips, call an electrician first, and report a gas odor to the utility.
