Inside Loop 610 and just west of downtown lie the Washington Avenue corridor, Memorial Park, Rice Military and the Old Sixth Ward. Townhomes and condominiums have replaced a good number of the older bungalows here.

What Washington Avenue / Memorial Park homes change about a La Cornue repair
Local housing, power events, water conditions, and installation styles all affect how we approach La Cornue diagnostics here.
Townhomes built in one big wave
Half the housing units in the area, out of 16,400, were added during 2000 to 2009, largely as attached townhomes and condominiums along Washington Avenue. Protected status came first to the Old Sixth Ward, Houston's first historic district.
Stairs and tight turns decide how a heavy range or a replacement part reaches the kitchen of a three-story townhome, which frequently sits on the second floor. Tell us the floor and the stairs, and we plan the visit before arrival.
2000s kitchens meet first big repairs
Townhomes from the 2000s wave are now old enough to need their first big appliance repairs. Gas cooktops and single wall ovens are common, and laundry usually sits upstairs.
Cooktop and wall oven can fail on their own, so name the one that is acting up. We test burners, flame and oven temperature individually.
White Oak Bayou touches part of the area’s northern side, and Buffalo Bayou marks the southern one. Many townhomes put a garage at street level and the kitchen above. Before the visit, let us know the floor, where to park and who will open the door; a rating plate photo helps too.
A townhome from the 2000s wave may be getting its first repairs now, so a part or a connection nobody has touched may simply have worn. We check the flame, the oven temperature against the dial and the thermostat, since most La Cornue ranges show no codes. A gas smell means leaving and calling the utility, and a tripping breaker means an electrician first.

My kitchen is on the third floor. Does that change anything?
It changes planning more than repair. Mention the stairs so the right parts come along.
My gas cooktop clicks but does not light. What do I do?
Tell us which burner and how long the click continues. The igniter and the gas feeding that burner get tested.
What is included in your repair price?
You receive a written price before any work starts, and thirty days of warranty cover the repair.
