CornuChef (G1, G2 and Centenary generations)
La Cornue CornuChef Legacy Range Repair

Most common issues on this model
- Gas burner lighting, and burners that drop out after lighting
- Vaulted oven holding the temperature it is set to
- On induction-fitted units, a zone not heating or an error symbol at one zone
La Cornue no longer makes the CornuChef, and today it survives in three generations: G1, G2 and a later Centenary. The earlier ones pair a gas burner hob with a vaulted oven. La Cornue also published a separate user manual for an induction hob that some units carry. These are ranges owners have kept for years, so age matters as much as the model.
The gas versions are mechanical, with no display and no codes. We test the flame at each burner, gas pressure, and the ignition and flame-safety device on any burner that lights and goes out. An older thermostat can drift, so the oven is read with a thermometer against its dial. On a unit with the induction hob, we sort the symbols into status signs and errors and test the zone that is not heating.
The generation decides which parts apply, so model and serial come from the label before parts are ordered. The price is written before any work.

Can a discontinued CornuChef still be serviced?
Yes. We test the burners, ignition, flame-safety device and oven on the unit itself, and confirm the model and serial to determine the generation before ordering parts.
How do I know which generation I have?
The label gives the model and serial. The three generations are G1, G2 and the later Centenary, and the generation affects which parts match, so we check before ordering.
My burner lights and then goes out. What do we check?
The flame-safety device and the ignition on that burner, along with blocked ports and gas flow to the position. Age can affect the sensing as well as the burner.
