La Cornue Château Cooktop 150 cm Repair

La Cornue cooktop

Most common issues on this model

  1. Burners lighting if gas, zones detecting a pan if induction
  2. Electric teppanyaki heating evenly on gas codes that include one
  3. Flush fit of the cooktop to the counter

Long enough for a serious counter run, the 150 cm Château Cooktop is the Château 150 hob in stainless steel with no oven below it. It follows the same gas, dual-fuel and induction codes as that range. Some gas codes include an electric teppanyaki, a flat heated plate that behaves quite differently from a burner.

On gas, we judge the flame at each burner, measure gas pressure, and check the ignition and flame-safety device wherever a burner lights and then drops out. The electric teppanyaki, where fitted, is tested separately for even heat across the plate, since that is what cooks on it. On induction we test pan detection, power and heat at each zone.

No code is displayed on this hob. We confirm model and serial from the label before ordering parts, and you see a written price before any work.

The teppanyaki heats unevenly. What do we check?

We measure heat across the plate and test its heating element and thermostat. Because it is electric, the teppanyaki is tested apart from the gas burners beside it.

Is a 150 cm cooktop harder to service than a smaller one?

The testing is the same, burner by burner or zone by zone. The width mainly means more positions to check and a heavier unit, so we plan the visit around the number of burners and zones.

Which hob do I have?

Gas burners with grates and flames mean a gas hob, while a smooth ceramic-glass surface means induction. The label gives the hob code, which we use to match parts.
