La Cornue Château 165 Induction Range with Two Ovens Repair

La Cornue range

Most common issues on this model

  1. Zones powering up and heating a pan evenly
  2. Pan symbol staying on although the cookware is compatible
  3. Error symbol at one zone, and which zone it belongs to
  4. Both ovens against their thermostat settings

Here the Château 165 trades its gas hob for induction: the cooking surface is electric only, 165 cm across, made up of induction zones, large plates and a teppanyaki on some codes. Each zone is rated at 2,100 W and each element at no more than 3,700 W. The two vaulted ovens beneath are different sizes, and the two drawers under them are for storage.

With no screen, the hob reports through a symbol at each zone. We sort those first, since pan detection and residual heat are ordinary status signs and only an error symbol signals a service issue. If a zone will not power up, heats unevenly or shows the pan symbol with suitable cookware, we test that zone and its supply.

Each oven is then checked with a thermometer against its dial. Model and serial come from the label before we order parts, and a written price comes first.

The pan symbol stays on with an induction pan. Why?

The pan may be off-center, too small for the zone or warped. If a flat, centered, magnetic pan still triggers the symbol, we test the zone's detection and power instead of the cookware.

One zone heats unevenly. What is the first step?

We move the same pan to another zone to rule out the cookware, then test the zone that behaves differently. A problem in one position points to that zone alone.

Do the drawers under the ovens heat?

No, on this model they are for storage. If one binds or sits crooked, we look at the runners and how the drawer front is fitted.
