Château Range Cooktop (90 cm, same hob codes as Grand Castel 90)
La Cornue Château Cooktop 90 cm Repair

Most common issues on this model
- Burner lighting on gas, pan detection on induction
- Lava-rock grill staying lit on a gas hob
- Gaps or tilt where the cooktop meets the counter
The 90 cm Château Cooktop takes the hob of the Grand Castel 90 and sets it into the counter on its own, in stainless steel, for kitchens that already have wall ovens. It follows the same gas and induction options as that range. With no oven beneath, everything we test is on the surface.
On a gas hob, each burner is lit and the flame judged, gas pressure is measured and the ignition and flame-safety device is checked. A lava-rock grill that goes out or burns unevenly gets a closer look at its burner and air supply. Because the surface has no display, no codes appear. On an induction hob we test whether each zone detects a pan, powers up and holds its heat, and we read any symbol shown.
The cooktop’s fit in its cutout is checked too. We read model and serial from the label before ordering parts, and a written price comes before any work.
Key features
- Stainless-steel cooktop designed for counters above or beside wall ovens
- Spans 90 cm (about 35 in)
- Follows the Grand Castel 90 hob options, gas or induction
- No oven underneath
The grill goes out soon after lighting. What do we check?
The flame-safety device and the ignition on that burner, then the burner ports and air supply. A grill that stays lit only while the knob is held often points to the safety sensing.
Can one cooktop be gas in one spot and induction in another?
On this size the hob code can include a pair of induction zones alongside gas. We confirm from the label which surfaces you have before testing.
Why check the cutout fit?
A cooktop that is not flush or level can let pots slide and affect the flame. It is a quick check we do before testing the burners or induction zones.
