La Cornue Château Cooktop 75 cm Repair

La Cornue cooktop

Most common issues on this model

  1. Gas burner lighting, or induction zone pan detection, depending on the hob
  2. French top or power burner rim heat on a gas hob
  3. Fit in the counter cutout: flush and level

Compact and made of stainless steel, this 75 cm Château cooktop is the hob of the Castel 75 range without the oven. It is for kitchens where wall ovens already exist and the hob belongs at counter height. Gas and induction versions both exist, matching the Castel 75 hob configurations, so the first thing we establish is which one is in your counter.

A gas hob is mechanical: knobs, no display, no code. We light each burner, judge the flame, measure gas pressure and examine the ignition and flame-safety device on any burner that lights and drops out. On a French top we compare rim and center. An induction hob is tested at the zone for pan detection, power-up and heat, and any symbol is read for what it means.

We also check how the unit sits in its cutout, since one that is not flush or level can affect flame and seal. The label gives model and serial before parts are ordered, with a written price first.

How do I know if I have the gas or the induction version?

Gas burners have grates and a visible flame, while induction is a smooth ceramic-glass surface. The label then confirms the hob code so we order matching parts.

The cooktop sits uneven in the counter. Does that matter?

It can. A cooktop that is not flush or level may let pots slide and can affect burner flames or the seal around the cutout. We check the fit before testing burners or zones.

A gas burner clicks but does not light. What do we check?

The ignition, the burner ports and the gas flow to that position. If the flame lights and then drops out, we also test the flame-safety device.
