La Cornue Castel 60 Touch Induction Range Repair

La Cornue range

Most common issues on this model

  1. Hob answering when its touch controls are pressed
  2. Pan detection, and a zone that cuts out mid-cook
  3. Symbols at a zone, sorted into status signs and errors
  4. Oven, where fitted, reaching its set temperature

The Castel 60 is the smallest range cooker La Cornue makes, aimed at a second kitchen, a guest house or a small apartment. It is also the first in the Château family to use a touch-sensitive induction hob in place of the rotary knobs found on its siblings. That changes how we service it: a control that does not respond is a different question from a zone that does not heat.

We keep the two apart. First we see whether the hob answers touch at all, then whether a zone detects a pan and holds its heat, using cookware we know is induction-compatible. Any symbol shown at a zone is read for what it is, since some are status signs and only an error symbol is a service concern. A zone that drops out mid-cook is tested at the zone and at its supply.

Where a vaulted oven is fitted, it is read with a thermometer against its setting. The label gives model and serial before parts are ordered, and a written price comes first.

Castel 60Castel 60 questions
The touch controls do not respond. Where do you begin?

We check whether the hob has power, then whether the controls answer when the glass is dry and clean. An unresponsive touch surface is tested separately from the induction zones.

How is this hob different from other La Cornue induction hobs?

Most of the line uses rotary knobs for induction. The Castel 60 is the first Château-family model with touch controls, so the controls and the zones are tested as two separate things.

A zone stops heating halfway through cooking. Why?

It could be the pan, so we try compatible cookware first. If the zone still drops out, we test the zone and its power supply and note any symbol it shows.
