La Cornue Château 120 Gas Range Repair

La Cornue range

Most common issues on this model

  1. Gas oven reaching temperature, and the electric oven's element heating evenly
  2. Light-up and flame at each burner and the French top
  3. Lava-rock grill holding its flame
  4. Induction zones on E4 and ED codes, tested apart from the gas burners

At 120 cm, the Château comes with a gas oven beside an electric one, while the Châtelet has one gas or electric vault oven and a warming drawer. The hob has two gas burners, and the hob code decides the rest, from a French top in a large or small size to a power burner, extra burners, a grill on lava rock or one or two induction zones beside the gas. Gas and induction on the same surface mean two kinds of testing on one hob.

Controls are mechanical and nothing is displayed, so we diagnose by testing. The gas oven gets a look at its flame and its ignition and flame-safety device, and the electric oven is watched for even element heat. Both are read with a thermometer against the dial. On the hob, every gas burner and the French top are lit and judged, and on codes with induction we test the induction zone on its own.

Model and serial come from the label before any part is ordered. You approve a written price first.

Why does my range pair a gas oven with an electric one?

That is how the Château 120 is built, so each oven needs its own testing. We check flame and flame-safety device on the gas oven, and the element on the electric one.

My induction zone is dead but the gas burners work. Why?

Gas and induction run on separate systems, so one can work while the other does not. We test the induction zone and its supply apart from anything on the gas side.

What is the warming drawer on a Châtelet for?

It holds food at a gentle temperature until serving. If it no longer warms, we measure its actual temperature with a thermometer and test its heating element and thermostat.
