La Cornue Château 165 Gas Range with Two Ovens Repair

Most common issues on this model
- Smaller and larger oven, each measured against its own thermostat setting
- Lighting and flame quality at every burner and the French top
- Storage drawers: runner binding and front alignment
- Both oven doors: seal wear and how they close
The Château 165 sits in the middle of the La Cornue lineup: two vaulted ovens of unequal size and a pair of storage drawers below a 165 cm gas hob. The French top is the large plate at the center, with a power burner, a burner pair, a lava-rock grill or a teppanyaki finishing the layout by code. Mechanical throughout, it has no display and so no error codes to read.
That means we test everything directly. Every burner is lit and the flame judged, gas pressure is measured, and any burner that lights and drops out gets a close look at its ignition and flame-safety device. In each oven, a thermometer reading is compared with the thermostat setting. The smaller and larger vaults heat separately, so one can be right while the other is not.
The drawers and doors are part of the visit: runners, drawer-front fit and seals. We read the model and serial from the label before ordering anything, and a written price comes before work starts.

- Burner ratings match the line: 17,000 BTU front, 7,500 BTU rear on natural gas
Error codes this model can show
My two ovens bake differently. Is something wrong?
They are different sizes and heat independently, so they will not match exactly. If one cannot reach its set temperature, we measure it against the dial and test its heat source and thermostat.
A storage drawer sticks and sits crooked. Fixable?
Yes. We inspect the runners for binding or wear and check how the drawer front is aligned, which usually explains a drawer that no longer closes squarely.
Will the range show me an error code?
No. It has knobs and no display, so we diagnose by testing the flame, gas pressure, ignition and oven temperatures instead of reading a code.
