Château Hood
La Cornue Château Range Hood Repair
Most common issues on this model
- Motor running on every fan speed
- Telescopic smoke cover extending and retracting fully
- Light working, and grease filter seating correctly
Made to match the range below it in size and finish, the Château Hood comes with a standard painted body or with decorative trim strips in the range’s chosen finish. Island versions exist, and so do custom hoods by estimate. A telescopic smoke cover extends up to 1.50 m, which brings the total height to as much as 2.25 m. That moving cover is a regular service item.
We start with the fan: whether the motor runs on every speed or only on some. We then move the smoke cover through its full travel to see whether it extends and retracts without sticking or stopping short. The light and the grease filter come last, including whether the filter seats properly, since one that sits badly can rattle or cut airflow.
A hood this size is heavy and hangs high, so we plan access before we start. Model and serial come from the label before parts are ordered, and you see a written price before any work.
Key features
- Sized and finished to match the Château range beneath it
- Choice of standard painted body or decorative trim strips in the range finish
- Island and custom (by estimate) versions also exist
- Telescopic smoke cover reaches 1.50 m, for a total height up to 2.25 m
The smoke cover sticks halfway. What do we check?
We run the telescopic sections through their travel and look for binding, misalignment or a drive that stops short. The cover has a long reach, so alignment matters.
The fan works on some speeds only. What does that mean?
A motor that runs on some speeds and not others points to the speed control or the motor windings rather than the whole hood. We test each speed and the controls behind it.
Can you service an island or custom hood?
Yes. We test the motor, smoke cover, light and filters the same way, and confirm the model and serial from the label before ordering parts for a custom version.
