Tourelle Built-in Oven (60 cm / 23.6 in)

La Cornue Tourelle 60 cm Built-in Oven Repair

La Cornue wall oven

Most common issues on this model

  1. Cavity temperature against the thermostat setting
  2. Door seal wear and a square close
  3. Browning that is uneven from front to back

Installed at eye level and built around a vaulted cavity, the Tourelle 60 shares the oven design and cooking performance of the Château line. At 60 cm (23.6 in) it is the smaller of the two Tourelle sizes. It is meant to sit with a Château cooktop or range rather than replace one, and because it stands alone in its cabinet it is easier to reach than an oven inside a range.

This is a mechanical oven. It has no display, so no code appears. A thermometer in the cavity, compared with the thermostat setting, tells us whether it reaches temperature and holds it. Browning that is uneven from front to back sends us to the thermostat and the airflow inside the vault. The door seal is the other regular check: a stiff seal or a door that does not close flush lets heat escape.

The label gives model and serial before parts are ordered, and you see a written price before any work begins.

Tourelle Built-in Oven (60 cm / 23.6 in)Tourelle Built-in Oven (60 cm / 23.6 in) questions
My Tourelle browns unevenly front to back. Why?

That points to the thermostat or the airflow in the vault. We measure temperature across the cavity with a thermometer, then test the thermostat and heat source.

How does the Tourelle relate to my Château cooktop?

It is designed to pair with one. They are separate appliances, so a problem in the oven says nothing about the cooktop, and each is tested on its own.

The door does not close flush. Does that matter?

Yes. A hardened seal or an out-of-line door lets heat escape and can make the oven slow or uneven. We inspect the seal and the door fit.
